The chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Welfare and Social Affairs Women, Lucy Arce, recommended yesterday the Department of Education (DE) to identify and implement appropriate intervention models for serving children with autism. Arce did

Senator insisted that it is urgent that DE also trains preschool teachers to identify potential deficiencies development.
added that "those problems and communication behavior that interfere with learning sometimes require the assistance of a professional who has expertise in the field of autism, who helps develop and implement a plan that can be carried out in home and school. "
Arce also mentioned the urgent need for programs for adults older than 22 years, since the current law only requires the state to provide services until age 21.
"We identified the demand for design and implementation of respite programs for those suffering from this condition and the general public ... Also the design and implementation of more and better independent living programs, "explained the legislator in a written communication.
